Our story

Built the wrong way round, on purpose.

Most coffee brands start with a bag and a roast date. We started with the instruments, because we refused to put our name on a coffee before we were ready to stand behind it.

Marbella at dawn, where the sea meets the mountains.
Where it started

Born between the sea and the mountains

MAKO began in Marbella, on the Costa del Sol, where the Mediterranean meets the Sierra Blanca and depth and light sit side by side without needing to compete. It felt like the right place to build a brand about precision and restraint.

The name comes from the mako shark, the fastest shark in the ocean, built for speed and accuracy, not spectacle. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, in the tools we sell today and the coffee we will sell tomorrow.

What we won't compromise on

Three rules we don't bend

Material

Built to last

If it won't hold up to daily use for years, it doesn't carry our name, no matter how well it photographs.

Coffee

Chosen for the cup

Every coffee we sell will be chosen for how it smells, roasts and tastes in the cup, never for the volume it can ship.

Restraint

No manufactured nostalgia

No invented founding myths, no fake heritage. Just tools, and eventually coffee, that do the work well.

Where we are today

A brand built in the open

We would rather show you the real state of things than dress up a launch. Here is exactly where MAKO stands right now.

Phase 01

Instruments

Nineteen instruments are live, chosen for durability and daily use over decoration.

Live
Phase 02

Choosing the coffee

Tasting and selecting coffees against our standards for aroma, roast and cup quality.

Phase 03

MAKO Coffee

No bean carries our name until it passes every standard above. No exceptions for a launch date.

Coming
Coffee in development. Not on sale yet.
The craft we're aiming for

Precision doesn't stop at the counter

A great instrument means nothing if the coffee behind it was rushed. Before any coffee earns the MAKO name, we look at how it is roasted, batched and packed: the same rigor we expect from the tools already on your counter.

A note from the teamWe didn't want to launch another coffee brand that looks good in a press kit and tastes average in the cup. Starting with the instruments was a discipline: it forced us to prove we could deliver quality before we had a single bean to hide behind. The coffee is coming. It will be ready when it is ready, not before.
The MAKO team
Ready when you are

The instruments are ready today.

The coffee will follow. Until then, build the ritual and the rest will catch up.
